In October 2012 the Rosário Rebello de Andrade had a show in Lisbon where she presents seven paintings and seven graphite drawings, one globe and a small sculpture: the paintings relate to seven places on the world with the names of the seven Virtues; the globe thematises these places; the seven drawings, opposing to these places, represent charts of the sky​; the small sculpture — made out of wood in the shape of a book — has the painted words THE SHADOW OF THE CLOUDS, ATLAS OF REMARKABLE PLACES".

 

This is indeed the title of the show. And of this book.

 

The sculpture gives both writer and artist the idea of conceiving a real book with the same title. The concept of the show is however independent. The images for the book already exist: subverting the principle of illustrating a book, this project proposes to present a book within a book.
